Jyestha Amavasya: Shani Jayanti

Shani Jayanti is celebrated on the day of Jyestha Amavasya every year. It is believed that Shani Dev was born on this day only. In such a situation, due to Shani Jayanti, Shani Dev is worshipped. 

On this day Shani's mantras and hymns are recited. Shani Dev, one of the nine main planets in astrology, has got a place in the form of a judge.

 Only Shani Dev gives the results of all the good and bad deeds in human life. 

On worshiping Shani on this day, the effects of sins are reduced and the sufferings that come from Shani also go away.

By worshiping him and performing rituals on Shani Jayanti, Shani Dev gives special fruits.

 On the occasion of this Amavasya, worshiping Shani Dev with rituals, fasting and charity, all the problems related to Saturn go away and auspicious deeds are achieved.

 For Shani Dev Puja, getting up early in the morning after taking bath and  a lamp of mustard or sesame oil should be lit under the Peepal tree for the sake of Shani Dev.

 Along with this Shani mantra "Om Shanishcharaya Namah ॐ शनिश्चराय नम:"  should be chanted. 

Sesame, urad, black blanket, iron, clothes, oil etc. should be donated to things related to Shani Dev.

On the occasion of Amavasya, the most important work is donation for ancestors. At this time the work of peace of ancestors is done. All the works for the ancestors should be done in the early morning on this date. By doing this donation, Navagraha defects are destroyed. There is peace of the planets, troubles go away.

What to do in Jyestha Amavasya

• Cows, dogs and crows should be fed on Jyestha Amavasya.
• Peepal and Bad tree should be worshiped on the day of Jyeshtha Amavasya.
• Tarpan should be done for the ancestors.
• Thread should be tied on Peepal, raw milk should be offered.
• Black sesame should be donated.
• The lamp should also be lit.
