Donating barley(Jau) on the day of Akshaya Tritiya is considered  auspicious. Its donation is equivalent to donating gold. You can buy gold on Akshaya Tritiya, if not possible to buy Gold  then buy barley.

 Lakshmi Puja with Lord Vishnu
