Sawan Somwar 2022: Today is the first Monday of Sawan, know the method of worship and its importance

 Today is the first Monday fast of Sawan. There is a special significance of fasting on Mondays in the month of Sawan. Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati are specially worshiped early in the morning during the Sawan Somwar Vrat. After taking bath in the morning, worship is done by visiting the Shiva temple and worshiping Lord Bholnath while performing Jalabhishek. On Mondays of the month of Sawan, women and unmarried girls especially worship Shiva-Parvati, perform Katha and Aarti to get the blessings of Lord Shiva. It is believed that by observing fast on Monday falling in the month of Sawan, Lord Shiva soon fulfills all kinds of wishes.

Sawan Somwar Worship Method

The month of Sawan is the best time to worship Lord Shiva. In which the falling Monday has special significance because Monday is dedicated to Lord Shiva. In such a situation, getting up early in the morning on Sawan Monday, take a bath after cleaning the house and place of worship. After taking bath, take a vow of fast by installing the idol of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati at the place of worship of the house. In worship, worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati in Shodashopachar. After this, go to the Shiv temple located near the house and do Jalabhishek of Shivling. Use Ganges water, ghee, sugarcane juice, milk and curd in Jalabhishek. Chant Om Namah Shivaya Mantra continuously during the worship. After this, sit in front of the idol of Lord Shiva in the Shiva temple and recite Shiva Chalisa and Rudrashtak. After this do Shiva Katha and Aarti. 


Do not use these things materials in the worship of Lord Shiva Belpatra, Shami, Bhang, Datura, milk and curd are used in the worship of Lord Shiva. But there are some things which cannot be used in the worship of Lord Shiva. These things are considered taboo in the scriptures. Tulsi leaves and Ketki flowers should never be used in the worship of Shiva. One should never worship Shivling by applying turmeric or kumkum. Apart from this, Shivling should not be anointed with coconut water.
