Today is the first Monday of the Sawan fast. Fasting on Mondays in the month of Sawan has a special significance. Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati are worshipped during Sawan Somwar Vrat especially early in the morning. After the morning bath, the Shiva temple is visited and Lord Bholnath is worshipped while Jalabhishek is performed. On Mondays of the month of Sawan, women and unmarried girls especially worship Shiva-Parvati, perform Katha and Aarti to receive the blessings of Lord Shiva. It is believed that by fasting on Monday in the month of Sawan, Lord Shiva soon fulfills all kinds of wishes.

Sawan Somwar Worship Method:

• The month of Sawan is the most auspicious time to worship Lord Shiva. In this, Monday has a special significance because Monday is dedicated to Lord Shiva. In such a situation, on Sawan Monday, you get up early in the morning and take a bath after cleaning the house and the place of worship. After the bath, take a vow of fasting by placing the idol of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati at the place of worship in the house. Worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati at Shodashopachar. After that, go to Shiv temple near the house and make Jalabhishek of Shivling. Use Ganges water, ghee, sugarcane juice, milk and curd for the jalabhishek. You should chant Om Namah Shivaya mantra continuously during worship. After that, sit in front of the idol of Lord Shiva in the Shiva temple and recite Shiva Chalisa and Rudrashtak. After that do Shiva Katha and Aarti.
• Do not use these things in the worship of Lord Shiva Belpatra, Shami, Bhang, Datura, milk and curd are used in the worship of Lord Shiva. But there are some things that cannot be used in the worship of Lord Shiva. These things are considered taboo in the scriptures.Tulsi leaves and ketki's flowers should never be used in the worship of Lord Shiva. One should never apply turmaric or kumkum to the shivling. Apart from these things, Shivling should never be anointed with coconut water.
